Independent Two-Sample T-Test Definition

The independent two-sample t-test, also known as the independent samples t-test, is used to check if two populations have different means based on two independent samples. The student's t-test is most well known. The student's t-test was developed by William Gosset to help monitor the quality of stout at the Guinness brewery in Dublin, Ireland. The Welch's t-test is the default t-test in the well known statistical software R. The major difference between student's t-test and Welch's t-test is that student's t-test assumes equal variance and Welch's t-test assumes unequal variance. This calculator performs calculations for both student's t-test and Welch's t-test, and also provides recommendation based on the F test for equal variance.
